Blanco

Overview

On 11 July 1997, terrorist organisation Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) abducted Miguel Ángel Blanco, a 29-year-old councillor for the conservative Partido Popular in Ermua. The cell demanded that the Spanish government transfer their prisoners to jails in the Basque Country, threatening to kill Blanco unless conditions were met within two days.
