Through beautiful childlike dioramas and vivid bedtime stories, director Vibeke Bryld complicates George W. Bush’s simple-minded characterization of North Korea, Iran and Iraq. By illuminating the universal ritual of instilling a sense of morality, justice and beauty through story, these moments, illustrative of the love between parent and child, undercut the facile rhetoric of political agitation.
